Opportunities
To prepare you for an entry level position as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician (Phlebotomy and EKG), Medical Biller or Lab Technician.
Program Design
The objective of the Medical Assisting Program is to provide training whereby students can acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competency in medical assisting procedures which encompass both clinical and administrative activities. These procedures include, but are not limited to: preparing treatment rooms, obtaining vital signs from patients, procuring various specimens, administering medications as directed by a medical doctor, as well as managing medical office phones, patient schedules and bookkeeping responsibilities.
This program has been designed to provide the student with the opportunity to develop comprehensive entry level skills in the various aspects of a medical office or hospital; laboratory abilities, patient interaction, and office functions such as billing and computer operation. With a maximum class size of 30, students will have the experience of internship in an actual medical office or hospital facility. The program is equipped with skeletons, phlebotomy practice equipment, EKG machines, examining tubes, personal computers and other equipment.

Phlebotomy EKG Medical Terminology Anatomy and Physiology I Administrative Medical Asst. I Medical Law and Ethics Human Relations Anatomy and Physiology II CPR Basic First-Aid Clinical Medical Asst. I Pharmacology Administrative Medical Asst.II Clinical Medical Asst. II Externship Review Externship Upon successful completion of all certificate program course requirements, including the externship, graduates will be able to pass the National Certification Exam and become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. They will be considered eligible for entry-level medical assisting positions in a variety of health care facilities.
