Opportunities
Demand for Phlebotomists has increased significantly in recent years. Nurses are no longer being asked to draw blood or perform electrocardiograms. Phlebotomists are being hired to perform these technical tasks. Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Doctors’ Offices, Labs and Clinics are constantly looking for trained Patient Care Technicians.
Upon successfully completing our course you are qualified to take the National Certification Examination which will definitely widen your job placement opportunities. Assignments can lead to life long careers with some of the health care establishments.
Program Design
The objective of the Phlebotomy program is to provide the proper training in which a student can acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competency in Phlebotomy. This multi-dimensional program is intended for the student who seeks an entry level position as a Phlebotomist. The students attend both instruction lecture classes and practice classes in the school lab. The phlebotomy lab is equipped with practice arms for venipuncture, as well as needles, syringes, and tubes. The EKG lab is equipped with an EKG machine as well as the required supplies.

History of Phlebotomy Anatomy and Physiology Infectious diseases Tubes, needles, anticoagulants, trays, chair, and supplies Venipuncture Order of Draw Physiologic and biologic considerations Bleeding time test Neonatal blood collection Vital signs Electrocardiographs Office Management skills Medical-legal issue Lab Sessions
Upon successful completion the student will be qualified to obtain an entry-level position as a Phlebotomist. |
